Emerging from the ashes of Denton’s Novaak, Bethan came to fruition after Jessi James met producer Roger Greenawalt at SXSW 2010. The result was a series of sessions in a Brooklyn studio that came together to form the first release, “Chapter 1:”. With James evoking the foreboding vocal qualities of Beth Gibbons and still managing to waver into the optimistic tone of St. Vincent, there is wide array of emotions wrapped-up into the instrumentally rich and impeccably tight production.
